Tuesday, another day out of the office to attend a Lexus training on the brand shift. The training took place at the Dolce hotel in La Hulpe, basically in the middle of the Forest of Soignes.
The training has been really interesting, especially for me, who works in the brand since a little time and got the chance to face not only the history, the past, the present and the future of the brand, but also with people who have been working there forever, and who saw it grow and radically change.
I finished the training at 16:00, and benefit from that to go back home, publish a post on the blog and to settle a few of the things that I had behind. You know, all the things that you have to do since thousand of years but that you end up never doing?!
Wednesday was a quite easy day in the office, where I did another one of the things that I have been postponing since quite a long time: I made the appointment to stipulate the health insurance, which is mandatory in Belgium. Exactly, among the other bureaucratic formalities there is also this one.
But how does the health insurance work in Belgium? Basically, it is mandatory to sign up to a "mutuelle" (national health fund), which you have to pay every month, quarter or year some amount, and guarantees you to be refunded (partially or completely) in case of expenses for medicines or medical exams.
If the doctor is part of the state run health care, the price of the basic check-up is 25 euros; if it is not, then the price is at his complete discretion.
Later, the national health fund will refund 19 out of those 25 euros (in case of basic insurance, extra refund in case of additional one).
Usually the same principle is applicable to all the exams, but not in the event of hospitalization, which is not included in the basic coverage. Lot of firms offer to their employees already covered -by law- by a basic health insurance an extra one for hospitalization. If your company does not provide you with that, you will need to contract one.
Basic health insurances cost about 8-10 euros per month. The hospitalization insurance costs 10/12 euros more, then you can add a dental one, an additional medical one, etc.
Health insurances do not really differ, there are really few differences from one to the other.
So how to pick up a mutuelle? I recommend you to decide on the basis of proximity: go for the one closest to your place or to your workplace, so it's more practical for you once you have to drop off the receipts to claim your refunds.
There would be a thousand things to add about the topic, but as a general introduction I think it could be enough.
