Il mare già è magnifico di per sé, ma lo diventa ancora di più in un pomeriggio di fine gennaio, con 18 gradi, un tramonto bellissimo, e con le coste dell'Africa davanti.
Uno dei miei ricordi più belli di Marbella resterà questo, la poesia e la bellezza di un tramonto sul mare.
È diverso visitare una città da turista: cercare e scoprire tutti gli angoli, con la sola preoccupazione di godersi ogni attimo di svago e distrazione da quella che è la vita di tutti i giorni. Pensare solo a conoscere e ad esplorare. Diverso è visitare una città mentre ci si sta lavorando: approfittare dei pochi momenti liberi per vedere quello che si riesce, ma spesso approfittare dei momenti liberi solo per svagarsi un po', bere un bicchiere di vino, un aperitivo sul mare o una serata in compagnia.
E quello che ho visto di Marbella l'ho visto un po' a pezzi: un giorno il Casco Antiguo, un giorno la passeggiata sul mare e la Avenida Del Mar (con i capolavori surrealisti di Dali), un giorno Puerto Banus. La cosa che mi è piaciuta di più è sicuramente il centro storico, il Casco Antiguo, con le stradine tipiche dell'Andalusia, i colori accesi, le piante di aranci, le piazzette che ti fanno venir voglia di prendere un caffè all'aria aperta, i localini sul mare.
Puerto Banus è troppo per me: solo lusso, allo stato puro. Dove le macchine sono tutte di lusso, gli Yacht degni di Montecarlo, e i negozi che sono una tentazione troppo forte per il mio portafogli. Ma ha il suo fascino: la camminata al porto con la vista sulla costa è sicuramente pittoresca; ma personalmente, preferisco le file di barche di pescatori, agli Yacht dei multimilionari.
Per questo tra tutte le città dell'Andalusia che ho visto preferisco quelle più caratteristiche e meno turistiche a Marbella, quelle dove mi sembra si conservi meglio l'autenticità , che a Marbella mi sembra sia stata un po' sacrificata per andare incontro alle preferenze dei turisti.

It's different to visit a city as a tourist: trying to look for, and find out, all the corners, only worrying about enjoying any second of leisure and time off from the everyday life. Only thinking about experiencing and exploring. But it's different when you visit a city while you are working: enjoying the few moments off to explore what you can, but often enjoying the few moments off only to distract yourself, have a glass of wine, a few tapas on the beach or a night out all together.
And what I visited in Marbella, I've seen it in different times: one day the Casco Antiguo, one day the walk on the beach and the Avenida Del Mar (with the surrealistic masterpieces of Dali), another day Puerto Banus.
The thing that I definitely liked the most is the Old Town, the Casco Antiguo, with the narrow streets typical of Andalusia, the bright colors, the orange trees, the little squares that make you want to take a coffee in a terrace-bar, the clubs and bars on the beach.
Puerto Banus is just too much to me: only luxury, in its "purest" form. Where cars are only extra-luxury cars, Yachts are like Montecarlo's ones, and shops are a too strong temptation to my pocket. But it also has its charme: the walk to the peer with the view on the coast is definitely picturesque; but personally, I like the rows of fishermen's boats better than the multimillionaires' yachts.
For this reason, among all the cities I've visited in Andalusia I prefer the more characteristic and less touristic ones than Marbella, the ones where I feel it's better preserved the authenticity, that in Marbella has been a little sacrificed to please tourists' preferences.
