How to find housing in Barcelona

English Version Below - Il punto di partenza per cercare casa in qualsiasi città è informarsi su quali sono i principali siti web, app, pagine Facebook o piattaforme varie in cui si trovano annunci di appartamenti o camere in affitto.
Il secondo passo è poi decidere se questi sono affidabili. Tanti mi hanno detto che non si sono fidati a prendere casa online perché hanno sentito di varie truffe, ma per quello che mi è sembrato, i principali siti sono abbastanza affidabili. Certo, ci sono annunci finti dappertutto, ma passando per un'agenzia, loro fanno da garanti nel caso l'appartamento non esistesse, o fosse diverso, o mancassero delle caratteristiche offerte nell'annuncio.
I siti principali in cui ho cercato sono Spotahome, Uniplaces, Idealista. Su Spotahome ci sono addirittura dei video in cui è possibile vedere la casa, un servizio chat in cui il servizio clienti del sito risponde alle domande sulle varie proprietà e fornisce soluzioni simili alle ricerche di ogni compratore, e le varie proprietà vengono verificate dai collaboratori del sito.
Uniplaces è il sito in cui io ho trovato casa (sia a Lisbona che a Barcellona), perché per la maggior parte delle proprietà di Spotahome non era possibile prendere una camera doppia per due persone, e quando lo era, il prezzo aumentava sensibilmente. Invece su Uniplaces abbiamo trovato diverse camere in cui era possibile stare in due persone allo stesso prezzo di una sola. E le spese di commissione sono inferiori.
Credo che Idealista sia molto buono se ci si trova in Spagna, perché è possibile contattare i proprietari telefonicamente, ma trovandomi all'estero ho preferito contattare i proprietari via mail, e nessuno ha risposto.
Per quanto riguarda le truffe, ovviamente se trovate una camera in centro a 200 euro, io non mi fiderei! Cercate sempre di capire se l'offerta è realistica, se la casa sembra esistere e se vi sembra un prezzo ragionevole.
Non so bene come sia cercare casa da Barcellona perché mi fido di internet e piuttosto che passare settimane in ostello preferisco avere un po' di sorpresa, e finora mi è andata sempre bene. Ma visto che a fine febbraio scade il nostro contratto e il proprietario di casa ci ha chiesto di pagare 400 euro a testa anziché 300, dovremo incominciare a cercare una nuova stanza, e vedremo come andrà la ricerca sul campo!

I have been told by several people that they didn't trust in getting a room online because they had heard about lot of scams, but for what I have seen the main websites are quite reliable.
Of course, there are plenty of fake ads everywhere, but through the agencies, they act as guarantors in case the apartment wouldn't exist, or would be different, or would miss some feature offered in the ad.
The main websites I looked up on are Spotahome, Uniplaces, Idealista.
On Spotahome you even have a video where you can see the flat, a chat where customer service answers questions and provides solutions similar to the researches of every client, and every property gets verified by the website's organization.
Uniplaces is the website where I found housing (both in Lisbon and in Barcelona), since in most of the places on Spotahome we weren't allowed to get a double room for two people, and in case we were, the price would have consistently increased. Instead, on Uniplaces we found several rooms for two people for the same price as for one. And the commission fee is lower.
I think Idealista is really good if you already are in Spain, because you can call the landlords by phone; but since I was abroad I preferred to contact them via email, and no-one ever answered.
In the matter of scams, obviously if you find an amazing room in downtown for 200 euros, I wouldn't trust! Always try to understand if the offer is realistic, if the flat seems it exists, and if it seems to have a reasonable price.
I don't really know how it would be to find housing not online, because I trust internet and I'd rather have some surprise than spending weeks in a hostel, and until now I have always been lucky. But considering that my contract expires at the end of February and that the landlord asked us to pay, from March, 400 euros instead of 300, we should start looking for a new room, and let's see how the fieldwork will move!
