Phuket

Sono arrivata a Phuket senza sapere esattamente cosa aspettarmi. Dopo aver girato Bangkok, Ayutthaya, Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Siem Reap e Phnom Penh, avevo un estremo bisogno di rilassarmi. Avevo un estremo bisogno di mare. Sapevo quanto famosa fosse Phuket, ma sapevo anche che la stagione non era l'ideale in quella zona della Thailandia.

Arriviamo all'aeroporto e prendiamo un taxi verso il nostro hotel, che si trova a Patong Beach. Patong Beach è la zona ideale se cercate un posto dove divertirvi e fare festa, dato che è piena di bar, discoteche e ristoranti. Ci è stato detto che anche la spiaggia è bellissima, nella stagione giusta però. Purtroppo ad Agosto il mare non era dei migliori, ma ne eravamo consapevoli e ce lo siamo fatti piacere lo stesso.

A Phuket ci ha anche raggiunto Mollie, la nostra sorella americana (una ragazza che abbiamo ospitato anni fa durante il suo anno in Italia e che è diventata parte della nostra famiglia). Il primo giorno abbiamo preso un camioncino e ci siamo prima diretti a Kata Noi, dove però ci hanno detto che è molto pericolo fare il bagno in questo periodo.

Quindi ci siamo spostati a Kata Beach, dove anche se c'era il mare mosso, era possibile fare il bagno. Siamo stati qui fino a quando non abbiamo iniziato ad avere fame. Per pranzo ci era stato consigliato di andare a Rawai Beach, dove c'è un villaggio di pescatori che ti vende il pesce fresco e poi il ristorante di fianco te lo cucina come vuoi.

Dopo pranzo abbiamo deciso di andare a Phromthep Cape per goderci le ultime ore di sole con una vista spettacolare.
Il secondo giorno l'abbiamo passato a Patong Beach e tra le stradine di Patong, alla ricerca di cose carine da compare e cibi buoni da assaggiare.

Phromthep Cape

I arrived in Phuket without really knowing what to expect. After visiting Bangkok, Ayutthaya, Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Siem Reap e Phnom Penh, I really needed to get some rest. I really needed the seaside. I knew how famous Phuket was, but I also knew that the season wasn't ideal in that area of Thailand.

We got to the airport and took a taxi to go to our hotel, which is in Patong Beach. Patong Beach is the perfect area if you are looking for a place to have fun and party, since it's full of bars, pubs, discos and restaurants. We've been told that the beach is also pretty nice, in the right season though. Unfortunately in August the sea is not the best, but we were aware of that and we still enjoyed it.

Mollie, our American sister, joined us in Phuket. Mollie is a girl that we welcomed and hosted in our house when she was attending her year abroad in Italy and she quickly became part of our family.

The first day we took a little bus and we went to Kata Noi. We came here just to quickly see it, since they told us that it's quite dangerous to swim there during this season.

We then moved to Kata Beach, where, even considering the rough sea, it was possible to swim. We stayed here until lunchtime and then we went to a place in Rawai Beach that was highly recommended. It was a fishermen village, where you could buy fresh fish and have it cooked however you wanted it in one of the restaurants on the seaside.
After lunch we decided to go to Phromthep Cape to enjoy the last few hours of sun with a wonderful view.

We spent the second day in Patong Beach and wandering around the little streets of Patong, looking for nice things to buy and delicious food to try out.
