Uno dei requisiti per un'au pair iscritta ad AuPair Care è di completare un progetto prima della partenza. Lo scopo di questo progetto è insegnarci a condividere la nostra cultura e la nostra esperienza con i bambini con la famiglia ospitante.
Il progetto è obbligatorio e ci viene richiesto di trascorrere almeno 8 ore a preparare il progetto, che deve essere redatto in inglese e al meglio delle nostre capacità .
Quando ho letto che dovevo passare almeno 8 ore a fare questo progetto mi è venuto un colpo, credendo che era un tempo esagerato, invece non è così.
Infatti passerete molto tempo a reperire informazioni e poi a riordinarle nel progetto.
Section 2: Developmental Milestones
Per questa sezione vi verrà richiesto di ricercare informazioni sullo sviluppo fisico, mentale e sociale relativi a bambini di tutte le età . Per quanto mi riguarda mi sono concentrata sullo sviluppo dei bambini intorno all'età di 6-8 anni, quindi relativi alle bambine che andrò a curare io.
Su wikipedia troverete una tabella riepilogativa sulle diverse fasi dello sviluppo, altre informazioni utili le trovate qui e qui.
Section 3: Simple Crafts and Snacks
Qui dovrete proporre semplici lavoretti e attività che si adattano ai bambini dell'età che andrete a curare.
Inoltre vi verrà richiesto di presentare ricette facili e veloci da fare con i bambini.
Idee sulle attività le trovate qui e qui, per quanto riguarda le ricette tante idee su questo sito.
Section 4: Storytelling, Singing and Games
Dovrete trovare storie per bambini, canzoni e ninna nanne e giochi per bambini dell'età che andrete a curare. In questa sezione sarebbe carino mettere una canzone nella vostra lingua madre, in modo tale da condividere un pò della vostra cultura.
Storie brevi per bambini in inglese, canzoni in inglese qui e qui e giochi per bambini di tutte le età qui.
Section 5: Motor Skills (Fine and Gross)
In questa sezione vi verrà richiesto di presentare attività che aiutano a sviluppare le attività motorie. Link utili: Motor skills & 50 attività .
Section 6: Make Believe and Imitation
I bambini hanno una grande immaginazione che deve essere coltivata. In questa sezione dovrete proporre attività che coinvolgono la recitazione e che incoraggiano il bambino all'imitazione. Qui troverete informazioni sull'importanza dei giochi di fantasia e qui 25 idee per sviluppare l'immaginazione.
Section 7: Sharing and Cooperation
Attività e giochi che favoriscono lo sviluppo sociale sono importanti per la crescita del vostro bambino. Dovrete quindi descrivere alcuni giochi che favoriscono la condivisione e la cooperazione e che coinvolgono la socializzazione. Qui dovrete presentare tutti i vostri dubbi e le domande che avete per la vostra famiglia ospitante. Personalmente questa sezione ho deciso di ometterla, dato che tutte le domande che avevo le ho già poste alla mia famiglia e non mi sembra una sezione indispensabile.
One of the requirements for an Au Pair with AuPair Care is to complete a project before departure. The purpose of this project is to learn how to share our culture and our experience with children with the host family.
This project is mandatory and we are asked to spend at least 8 hours to prepare the project, which has to be in English.
When I read I was supposed to spend at least 8 hours on this project I was shocked, thinking that it was exaggerated, but it's not.
In fact, you will spend a lot of time looking for info and then organizing the project.
When we get to the academy school, we will hand it the pre-departure project, which will be reviewed, corrected and the bests will win a prize.
The pre-departure project requested by AuPair Care is divided in 10 sections, but you could organize it depending on your liking and you don't necessarily have to follow AuPair Care's instructions.
Section 1: My American Family and Region
In this section you will have to present your american family, taking a page for each child, describing him/her, his(her hobbies and interests.
In the second part you will have to describe the country you will live in.
Here you will find tons of information about the 50 American States that can be useful while writing this section.
Section 3: Simple Crafts and Snacks
Here you have to propose simple crafts or activities that fit the age of your host kids. Moreover, you will have to present easy and quick recipes to do with your children. Ideas for activities can be found here and here, and nice recipes on this website.
Section 4: Storytelling, Singing and Games
You will have to find stories for kids, songs and lullabies and games for kids of the age you will take care of. In this section it would be nice to insert a song in your language, so that you will share a little bit of your culture.

Here you are asked to present activities that help to develop motor skills.

Kids have huge imagination that has to be nourished. In this section you will have to propose activities that involve acting and that encourage kids to imitate. Here you will find information about the importance of games of imagination and here 25 ideas to nurture imagination.
Section 7: Sharing and Cooperation
Activities and games that support social development are important for the growth of your child. You will then have to describe some games that nurture sharing and cooperation and that involve socialization. Here you can find games that support sharing and here games that support cooperation.

Kids love to play with words, no matter how old they are. Present activities that help improve their vocabulary and express better. On wikipedia you can find a lot of information about language development and on this site a lot of activities to help the development.

In this section you will have to present your family and your home country. Talk about traditions and typical activities of your country or holidays that you celebrate differently.
